Runtime health
Check the local runtime when a co-worker cannot start, schedule, or report current work.
Runtime health
The local runtime is the service on your computer that supports OtterDesk co-workers. You do not need to manage its internal details for everyday use, but its health matters when work cannot start or update.
Check the runtime
Open Settings → Resources and use the available runtime and API checks. Read the current message before retrying an action.
Common health states
- Ready: the local runtime is available for co-worker work.
- Installing: first-time setup is still running. Keep OtterDesk open.
- Docker is needed: install or start Docker Desktop, then try again.
- Needs attention: read the message, correct the indicated issue, and try again.
When to retry
Retry after the underlying issue is fixed, not repeatedly while setup is blocked. For example, start Docker Desktop first, wait for it to be ready, then select Try again in OtterDesk.
If a healthy runtime still cannot start a co-worker, review that co-worker's requirements and configuration. See Resources and capacity and Troubleshooting.
